Digital Marketing: Having More than one Domain name is a Good and Effective Strategy

Until now having just domain name for business seemed enough to get the job done and while that is still relevant a new idea has surfaced: usage of two domain names. The idea of using multiple domain names has recently been floating around the digital marketing community. According to some experts in the field of digital marketing; having more than one domain name is a good and effective strategy to attract more customers and advertise one’s product and/or service better.

Although having more than one domain name does require a little additional time and can be a bit more expensive the results you get in return is worth it. With multiple domain names you can redirect them to your pre-existing website or your social media which in turn would provide a good traffic for your website and ultimately your business. If you are willing to spend the extra few money and time then you can also go for a specific product based domain name for another website other than the parent one.

You can also host a complete campaign regarding particular events or any time-based products. This strategy can also be useful for the promotion of some special event, trade show or any other ad campaign. In all these instances you can use the other domain name to get a separate identity from the parent business or webpage. Many big brands have started to understand this strategy and implement it in their marketing approach.

For instance, Coca-Cola has many different websites for their various popular products that are different from one another like Diet coke and minute maid. So by endorsing this digital marketing strategy one can have many benefits like getting out specific content for targeted audience separately; receiving traffic for a campaign other than that of the main website and it gives you a different platform to experiment with other ideas differing from the main business strategy.

Let’s take an example: Someone with a profession of dealing in properties has a website for their residential properties they then decide that they want to expand their business and deal in commercial property as well. They will have two options either to merge the two properties or to get a new domain name for their new venture giving them the facility of having two separate campaigns for two types of properties with individual websites, social media approach and above all brand name.

The multiple domain name strategy allows you to have separate marketing approach in design as well as campaign for specific products giving them an individual feel. In a nutshell it isn’t absolutely necessary to have two domain names to keep your clients engaged but it sure does make it way more easier if you do.
